SDL Garden Care (previously South Devon Landscapes) has been in business for over 40 years, providing garden services to private and commercial customers in beautiful south Devon and parts of Torbay. Our ethos is excellent quality of work, and we have a large, well established regular customer base. We are a friendly organisation and most staff tend to work for us for a very long time, currently 6 to 40 years. From time to time, we need to take on new staff to replace those who are near retirement.

The work involves, grass cutting, weeding, hedge trimming, planting and all gardening tasks. We also operate a small garden waste collection service that involves picking up garden waste, transporting to our base and transfer to another vehicle. Ideally, we try to send out teams of two gardeners but sometimes this is not possible so you may be required to work on your own. Locations vary from day to day and often withing days.

Most of our staff are PAYE employees but there may be opportunities for a few self-employed contactors. Gardening work is largely seasonal and subject to suitable weather conditions, so we operate a flexible working arrangement. Work can be part-time to fit your needs. All work is equally available to men and women and paid according to experience. Remuneration is monthly in arrears. 

The minimum requirement is that you must be at least 25 years old, in reasonable physical health and have a clean driving licence. You would be required to drive a large van (not HGV) and be able to demonstrate practical skills. Previous gardening experience or qualifications are an advantage but, on the job, training can be given. Ideally you need to live in the Dartmouth/Totnes area or nearby and you would need your own transport to get to our base near Cornworthy. Protective and uniform clothing is provided, plus all garden tools needed for the work. We use IT for job planning and recording customer and your work hours, so you need your own smart phone or tablet.
